Dr. Mowafa Househ is Researcher, innovator, social entrepreneur, teacher, and author of health informatics in the Arab World.

His primary research interests are around the use of information and communication technologies to empower patients and clinicians, specifically focusing on Social Media and Mobile Technologies in Healthcare in the promotion of public health practice and healthcare literacy.

Dr. Househ is also an adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Victoria School of Health Information Science, Victoria, BC, Canada.

Dr. Househ has received several awards locally and internationally within the field of health informatics recognizing his research and entrepreneurship efforts which include: Distinguished Arab Scholar Award, Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, 2017-2018, Researcher Award, King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre, 2015; MBC Hope Awards for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship in 2015; Finalist for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Arab Enterprise Forum competition, 2014; Young Researcher Award, King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre, 2010; Northern British Columbia Healthcare in Technology Award, Canada, 2007; The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Trainee Award, Canada, 2003.

Dr. Househ has published over 140 research articles and over 8 books in the field of health informatics.


Dr. Ahmed Balkhair

In July 2017, Dr. Balkhair was appointed as the Advisor to the Vice minister and The General Supervisor of the e-Health Programs and ICT, Prior to that, in December 2016, he is assigned as the Director General of the National Health Information Center.

Dr. Balkhair, is a Pediatrician 2003, with Masters in Health Informatics. Also he is The Chair of IHE Saudi, and a Board member of the IHE international since 2013, Also he is a Board Member of the Saudi Pediatric Association 2012.

Dr. Balkhair Lead the development of the Saudi National EHealth strategy 2010, and contribute in the strategy refresh in 2017, and was the director of the National eHealth strategy and change management office, March 2010-Feb 2015, when he Establishment the Strategy and Change Management office, and Supervise the development of the Health information exchange Policy and standard, Lead the development of the Saudi Telemedicine network roadmap and the development of Many EHealth strategic initiatives and projects such as the Saudi eHealth Information exchange Engine SeHE Project, Health information system for the Hospitals and Primary health care centers for All MOH facilities , and The diagnostic Imaging repositories and Tele-radiology services. And he Represent Saudi Arabia in WHO for the interoperability standard and EHealth strategy meetings.

Dr. Abdullah Alanazi

Abdullah Alanazi serves as the chairperson and assistant professor in the department of Health Informatics in College of Public Health and Health Informatics-King Saud bin Abdul-Aziz University for Health Sciences.

Abdullah has a clinical experience and aims to promote application of information technology through both academia and industry for better patient care. He earned his PhD from University of Pittsburgh-School of Health and Rehabilitation Science in 2015 and achieved the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in the United States.

He pursued academic excellence through studying Medial Education and focuses on Competencies-based Health Informatics programs. Beside his clinical background as a pharmacist, he shows interests in innovation in health information technology and improving academic domains related to Health Informatics.

Ali Alharbi is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at College of Public Health and Health Informatics, Qassim University, where he is also head of the Department of Health Informatics and Vice Dean for academic affairs.

Dr. Alharbi is a board member of Saudi Association for Health Informatics and also a member of the Permanent Committee for e-learning at Qassim University. His research interests include health informatics, e-learning, educational technology, learning analytics, informatics and computer science education. He is interested in the development of innovative methods for designing adaptive and personalized e-learning environments.


Dr. Jumah Alanazi

Dr. Jumah had his PhD in Health Administration in addition to two master degrees in Hospital & Health Administration from both Washington University, St. Louis, USA and King Saud University. Just before joining King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital, Dr. Jumah Was the Director General of a 300-beds Hospital (Riyadh Care Hospital).

He is one of the founders of Saudi Society for Health Administration (SSHA.org.sa).

His contributions to health services automation were notable in Riyadh Military Hospitals & King Fahad Medical City since last decade.

Dr. Khalid Alodhaibi is fortunate to have progressive 24 years of experience in information technology administration and Engineering, with focus on Healthcare Informatics and Technology. Khalid worked in several countries and organizations such as - Corporate GO of MSD — MoD (2015 — Present) - Fahad Medical City (KFMC), Riyadh Saudi Arabia (2013-2015) - IBM Corporation, Silicon Valley Lab., San Jose, CA (2004 - 2013),- AT&T Corporation, Pleasanton, CA (2003 — 2004), and - King Faisal Specialist Hospital & RC, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (KFSHRC) (1993 — 2003). As a business leader, Dr. Khalid focuses on innovation and patient centered services. Khalid believes delivery of quality, appropriate, reliable and affordable technology services is the key attribute of a high performing information technology.

Dr. Khalid received his PhD degree in Information Technology in 2011 from George Mason University—Fairfax, VA., and his MBA degree with Information System Concentration in 2006 at Santa Clara University—Santa Clara, CA.


Dr. Mohammed Alhefzi

Mohammed Alhefzi, MD, SBCM-HI, MSc, is a Senior Registrar in Preventive Medicine and Health Informatics at King Faisal Medical City for Southern Regions.

He is the first board-certified physician who pursued Health Informatics as track specialization as a part of the Community and Preventive Medicine residency program.

He currently is a member of the National Health Informatics Advisory Committee, a part of Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, while leading the eHealth team for the newly introduced model of Care in the Eastern Region and also works with the Clinical Informatics team in King Fahd Specialist Hospital -Dammam.


Dr. Osama AL-Swailem

Dr. Osama Al-Swailem is Consultant Family Medicine and Corporate Chief Information Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre. Dr. Al-Swailem is Adjunct Professor of Medical Informatics at Al-Faisal University. He obtained MBBS from Medical School, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1991 and Primary Healthcare Diploma from Medical School, King Saud University in 1994. Dr. Al-Swailem obtained Arab Board Certification in Family Medicine in 1995. Dr. Al-Swailem has a Master Degree in Medical Informatics from Columbia University, USA in 1998 and a Post Doctoral Fellowship from Columbia University, USA in 1999.

Dr. Al-Swailem has over 19 years of working experience in the field of Medical Informatics and Information Technology in Health Care. He is a board member of the Scientific Committee of the National Centre of Health Information, Council of Health Services. He is a member of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). He co-authored the book “Developing Data Warehouse for the Healthcare Enterprise-Lessons from the Trenches”. The book was selected as the “book of the year” for 2008, the third edition of the book was published 2018. He attended and presented several papers in various international and regional conferences and sysmposiums.


Pascal Lardier

Pascal has been Senior Consultant and Executive Director at Health 2.0 for over eight years, overseeing programme and content strategies, promoting health innovation ecosystems around the world, connecting key stakeholders, including startups, payers, providers, health authorities and venture capitals.

Pascal also oversaw conference programmes for several Health 2.0 Chapters in India, Middle East, Latin America and Asia, among others, giving him a broad and unique perspective on health entrepreneurship around the world.

He reviews and advises hundreds of digital health companies every year, with a special focus on European SMEs and liaises with 110+ Health 2.0 Chapters around the world, including 28 in Europe. More recently, Pascal lead the production, content curation and entire programme for the HIMSS & Health 2.0 Conference in Sitges, Spain in May 2018.

In his new role as Vice President for Thought Leaders and Content for HIMSS International, Pascal works across all international regions with the teams responsible for conference programmes, overall content strategy and portfolio and talent and thought leadership.


Dr. Tarek Abudawood

Dr. Abudawood is a professor of Artificial Intelligence at the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Technologies at King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology.

He holds a BSc in Computer Science (2003) from King Abdulaziz University, and MSc in Machine Learning & Data Mining (2006) and PhD in Machine Learning (2011) both from the University of Bristol, Bristol, UK.

He received a number of awards for his outstanding performance during his Bachelor, Masters and Ph.D. studies and research.

He founded the Machine Learning and Data Mining Department at KACST. He represents KACST in a number of scientific committees and boards including the Scientific Committee of the National Centre of Health Information.

In addition to being an Artificial Intelligence Consultant, he also works as an Aerospace Components Verification Consultant at SAEI. He organised, chaired and invited as a keynote speaker in a number of national and international workshops and conferences between 2011 and 2018.

His diverse fields of interest include: Machine Learning & Analytics Solutions, Medical Informatics, Automation Systems and Recommendation Systems. One of his most interesting projects in the medical field is "The AI Radiologist" where he and his team seek to automate breast cancer detection and diagnosis


Dr.Turki Alanzi

Turki M Al-Anzi is an assistant professor at the College of Public Health, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Saudi Arabia. He completed his studies and obtained his PhD in mobile health from Kingston University London, UK in 2014. Currently, he is the chairman of the department of Health Information Management and Technology and the Vice Dean of the Deanship of Admission & Registration at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. He has published more than 20 journal and conference papers in the areas of m-health technologies and social media in healthcare.

He boasts of excellent visionary and goal-oriented skills with experience in planning, developing, and implementing cutting edge information technology solutions to address business opportunities.

Awarded as one of the most 100 recognized Chief Information Security Officers across Middle East for 2016.

Mr. Fahad’s current main role is to lead IT Business Services across the multiple geographies of the organization which is spanned across Arabian Gulf in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Covering Project Management Office, Release, Change Control, Access Management, Business Analyst, Quality Assurance, and Technical Writing. He focuses to help design, deliver, manage and continue improvement of IT services to meet business demands in consideration to increase quality, reduce costs, and all boost overall return on investment.


Mr. Suliman Alomran

Ms. Noora Al-Thomairy

Noora Al Thomairy is the Health Information Management Director at King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University Hospital, a vital part of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University academic complex.

Noora has almost a decade of experience managing and securing all clinical documentation of Hospital patients to ensure that they meet medical, legal and ethical standards.

She earned her Bachelor's in Health Information Management and Technology from Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. In 2014, she earned her Master degree in Health Informatics from Marshall University. 

She is highly trained in the latest information management technology applications and understand the workflow in any healthcare provider organization from large hospital systems to the private physician practice. 

She has a strong interest in mobile health and telemedicine and she has authored numerous articles in m-health. She is a member of National Health Information Management Standardization Committee which sets the national health information standards and regulations.

She serves on the board of SHIMA since 2016 as Director of Education and Development.
